“I would like to thank all of those residents who turned out to vote in the referendum on the Sonning Common Neighbourhood Plan on Thursday 29 September 2016.
“A turnout of 47.6 per cent of the total electorate and a resounding 94 per cent YES vote was fantastic and will give the Plan additional strength and weight.
“The referendum result was a great tribute to the support residents have given to the SCNDP Working Party over the last four-and-a-half years. It recognises the many consultations and surveys done by residents which provided the framework for the working party to develop an excellent Plan and supporting documents.
“Now that the village has voted overwhelmingly to adopt the Neighbourhood Plan, its policies will have to be given due weight in the consideration of new planning applications by South Oxfordshire District Council.
“A sub-committee of the parish council will be formed to administer and manage your Neighbourhood Plan to ensure that it carries out your wishes for the future development of Sonning Common.”
(Barrie Greenwood, Chairman of the Sonning Common Neighbourhood Development Plan Working Party)
